About Gatehouse Games

Gatehouse Games is a locally owned and operated enterprise specializing in Hobby Gaming. Since its humble beginnings in April of 1996, Gatehouse Games has been dedicated to building a safe and friendly gaming venue open to gamers of all interests and age groups. With a clean and good-natured environment, over 3000 sq. ft. of in-store gaming space, events, weekly new releases and a knowledgeable staff (of one!), we believe Gatehouse Games to be Central Pennsylvania's Number One Hobby Gaming Store. But don't take our word for it... Stop in!

Gatehouse Games is an other place in Altoona, Pennsylvania. It is listed at 218 E Plank Rd, Altoona, PA 16602, which places it among the local businesses of Altoona that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as hobby store, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

This group covers the other places gardeners shop and the businesses that turned up next to garden centers on the map: gift and home decor stores, pet and grocery stores with seasonal plants, craft and antique shops, and local services that do not fit a gardening category. Supermarkets and home stores are useful for a quick bag of potting soil or a pot of herbs; a nursery is the better choice for advice and plants suited to your yard.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. The most common schedule is 1–9 pm. It is closed on Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (814) 201-2053. Altoona is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Altoona follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I'm very new to card collecting and was a little hesitant to stop in at first, but the owner was super polite and knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything I wanted to know about TCGs (even though I'm sure some of my questions were a bit silly). It's obvious that he really enjoys the hobby, and it was great talking to someone that has years of experience to pull from. The store itself is also amazing! The castle aesthetic is very unique and fitting, and the variety of cards and tabletop games/supplies I saw was, honestly, above and beyond what I expected. They have weekly game nights as well, and if I ever make the leap from just collecting to playing, this place will be at the top of my list. Whether you've been collecting/playing for years or just getting started, I'd absolutely recommend dropping by!

Stopped in today during some work travel. The owner is a really friendly guy that's knowledgeable about tons of games. The aesthetics of the place are AWESOME, and I definitely plan to come back for a Magic draft night or commander night. It was pretty quiet when I visited, but if the owner is as cool as he is, I bet the player base is great to play with. Highly recommend!

Tim the owner was great, the shop is above and beyond the quality of this town despite what the owner says. I came to it since I rarely go to large game shops. And this one was huge. Six warhammer tables, things sitting almost everywhere. A huge selection of books, cards of at least five games, tons of board games, at least one commander game going. The place seems to prioritize playing warhammer and painting minis. But there wasn’t any large games going on while I was there. They have a bathroom, no drinks but I was told that would change, sheets across the street. Friendly people (Jessie and her husband comes to mind). The only issue was that this was a 10/10 shop in a 6/10 town. Few players but I’m sure that would be different for a pre release. Every single thing you could want was there and I had a blast knowing that there was at least one vampire group going in town. But there weren’t many players, but the ones that were there were welcoming. As was Tim.

Went to the store twice and both times I like the customer service the guy there is very helpful and he could tell you things for days about warhammer40k factions, he knows what he's talking about and both times he was always friendly. He gave me tips on painting and now I can grow being a painter. So you can never go wrong with this store to purchase some table top games.

Welcome to the castle! A gamers guild growing indeed. From tabletop in-store playing options to miniatures, board games, card games, and rulebooks. Check it out. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable.
